Historic Agreement Reached With CarePartners

After months of hearing your demands, CarePartners finally returned to the bargaining table today. After a full day of negotiations, I am happy to announce that we have tentatively agreed to a historic three-year contract.

While we are unable to share the terms of agreement with you until the ratification process begins, we can tell you that your bargaining committee and union are fully endorsing this deal.

This agreement happened because of you, our amazing and resilient CarePartners members. When CarePartners went around your bargaining committee and union and shamefully changed your terms of work, you stood your ground and declared “enough is enough”.

Thousands of you made your voices heard this week, participating in a job action vote. You’ve also met with and sent letters to your MPPs, called out your employer for their disgusting bargaining tactics on social media, and even rallied outside – and inside – their head office.

It was your actions that got CarePartners back to the bargaining table today, and it was your actions that forced CarePartners to finally be willing to negotiate a fair contract that is a huge step towards getting the respect and dignity you deserve.

I want to thank each one of you for your passion, activism and patience throughout this process. I also want to send a special thank you to the CarePartners bargaining committee, who not only spent many days and nights at the bargaining table, but showed up to every action, rally and outreach opportunity we had. I couldn’t be prouder of the work they did and what they accomplished.

In the coming days, we will be providing you with details of the ratification process. Please keep an eye on your emails, text messages, and theĀ www.stuckinthepast.ca website.

This tentative agreement also means that we are cancelling the remaining job action vote meetings. I want to thank everyone who took the time this week to make their voice heard – it was clear that this was a major factor in CarePartners returning to the table today.

Once again, thank you for your strength, solidarity and resilience. Witnessing the passion you have for your profession and the clients you dedicate your lives to, I couldn’t be prouder to be your union president.

I look forward to sharing the terms of this historic agreement with you soon.
